EUCALYPTUS, A BREATH OF ENERGY

In this Saturday post, sitting here with a stinking cold and ENERGY stick in-hand, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce an essential oil which is probably one of the more recognised ones, and one that’s definitely helping me out today – the fresh, airway clearing Eucalyptus globulus essential oil.

There are over 700 different species of eucalyptus trees, 500 of these can produce a very specific type of essential oil, extracted using steam distillation from the oval leaves of the tall evergreen tree, also knows as “Blue Gum”.

The specific species of Eucalyptus used in the GO2 ENERGY stick, one of three essential oils in the blend, is Eucalyptus globulus, which is sourced from Australia for its extra pureness. Unlike the slow-paced Koala bears who benefit from the protection of its trees and sustenance from its leaves, Eucalyptus globulus helps humans in a different way, partly by boosting our energy levels and helping to combat mental fatigue.

The minty, vibrant and very refreshing aroma is well known and easily recognised by noses all over. Its powerful benefits to our many respiratory needs are widely known, including helping to ease congestion and pressure, ease colds, flu and fevers to helping open airways, increasing the flow of oxygen, and as a result, helping boost performance. Purifying, invigorating and cooling, the Eucalyptus globulus essential oil has been found in cold, flu and energy boosting formulations dating back 150 years.

In addition to all the benefits that come from inhaling Eucalyptus, this essential oil has many more. Ranging from fresh breath to soothing pain from conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Eucalyptus globulus can be found in many popular over-the-counter creams and ointments. It even functions as a mosquito repellent and natural remedy to combat lice. It really is a multifaceted essential oil.

As with all essential oils, it is important to highlight, when applying topically or ingesting (ingesting can be outright dangerous and a hot topic of debate and 100% not recommended without guidance from a trained herbalist – I would always advise against ingestion of essential oils), strict guidelines must be followed, and you should always be sure of the source. The world is full of ‘cowboy’ blenders, using synthetic cheaper oils, and passing them off as pure and natural. I would always recommend knowing the origin and purity levels of the oils you use.

Despite the UK and EU not legally requiring it, the GO2-team work with leading blenders and labs, placing all their blends through the most rigorous quality and toxicology tests, setting a new standard for safety and trust in the industry. The goal is to increase transparency, and in turn eliminate the production and peddling of poor quality oils, which can, in the worst case scenario, be harmful, which is the complete opposite function and purpose of pure essential oils.

Enjoy the energetic power of the Eucalyptus globulus aroma, knowing that you are inhaling the highest quality blend. Now go, get active!!
